BTCPop Share Performance - August 2016
Hi everyone!
We are excited to launch the Share Performance Review (SPR). Basically we are gathering some statistical information on the shares we like and publishing it. There are a lot of interesting data out there, but most importantly you'll be able to compare them side by side. The format we hope is going to be simple enough. The periodicity of this review will be monthly... sometime around the 10th of each month so that we have the dividend information in for all those who are monthly.
We are also going to have a bit of a commentary which I hope will help explain the data recollected and start a conversation to discuss the results. With no further due, our Share Performance Review for August (based on recently obtained data around August 21st, 2016)

So let's get this started! As this is the first time we do this exercise there is a lot of exciting information here. First of all, it comes as no surprise that CasCaids (CC) is dominating the list as the highest yielding share. We like to look at VWAP because it for us a true representation of the average price investors are getting as of late. We also observe that it is offering a very strong Total Return second to POP. This brings us to the next big surprise: POP is overall the best performing share! Now, you need to be able to take this into context. If you were to invest at current prices, at least dividend wise CasCaids is a better choice, but what has made POP the big winner is the massive share price gain it has enjoyed. Being the oldest share trading in the market place, this gives it the time needed to appreciate itself. It will be interesting to see moving forward if CasCaids will be able to overtake POP or if Casimir's plans for growth will have it eating the dust.Let me get started by saying this is a work in progress. We will work with the format and the information presented to make it as clean and relevant as possible. Also, I will be updating this post as I work through the rest of the shares we are going to be covering. This is a time consuming exercise so please be patient and understanding. Finally, feel free to share with us your feedback and use the comments box below to let us know which is your favorite share and why!
Moving on we don't have much to comment on. A432 is in a unique disadvantage that is mostly due to the fact it is a fiat based business and with the current appreciation of bitcoin, it is going to have a hard time keeping up with the ones that are not fiat tied. BTJA seems to be creeping up yield wise with CasCaids , in what ought to be an interesting competition for #1 yielder. However, if we move a bit to the right we see that BTJA Total Return is actually negative! Its VWAP is below IPO value so even with the payouts it has enjoyed, on average investors are down on it. As time goes by we expect to see the payouts helping the total return move into positive territory. This is in contrast with CasCaids which has enjoyed a Capital Gain of 149%! Incredible run there guys!
Speaking of positive Total Returns, we are also featuring LELS on the list. LELS currently has a 60% Total Return, making it join the select club of shares that have worked out well for investors since their IPOs (LELS, POP & CC). Interesting enough, LELS is the only one on that list that is fiat based, making it an interesting subject of study as to why it has been able to outperform its peers which are down anywhere from -12% to -46% on our Total Return Review.
Moving on, let's see how are the shares yielding thus far and our expectations of future growth:

The table is now sorted to go from lowest to highest yielder based on VWAP price and last known payout(s) for a complete pay period. So let's get this started:
- BTCPOP: What POP lacks in yield it has made on share capital appreciation. Currently the yield has been hit severely as many of BTCPOP's features are currently offline while they are reworked. We expect this to be temporary. Although we believe there is a very bright future for BTCPOP, we don't expect the yield to be one of the highest... particularly because of POP's collateral premiere status. This means we thing investors would be mostly rewarded by the price of their shares going up than the current yield of the shares.
- A432: As a newcomer, Area 432 offers a very low yield because it has yet to prove it's business model and it is basically a new company also in real life. We are going to wait and see but for now we see the main risk here being the validation of their business model and execution of their strategy and day to day management. We look forward seeing where this project goes.
- BHX: Incredibly ambitious and somewhat confusing, if it wasn't for AlpineInvest I would just throw this into the I don't think you know what you're talking about bucket. We are still waiting to see an MVP from AlpineInvest and hopefully some more tangible information on this. Seems like he has enough money not to need to float this to the community so we need to figure out why he is doing it. We also think there needs to be something appealing involving growth as it is competing for capital from other shares that offer higher yields and steady growth.
- LELS: Maybe it is the Hashman effect, maybe it isn't. But LELS not only has yielded a positive net return to investors but also offers a very attractive yield. We would be all over it if it wasn't because we expect a drop in dividends (and therefore yield) after the dividend guaranteed period is over. We want to wait for the dust to settle before we decide to move in or not.
- BTJA: Another fairly new IPO in the BTCPOP family. It is also offering an attractive yield very close to LELS but it doesn't stand out particularly in any metric.
- BPO: There are pages and pages about what BPO is all about... and we are yet to read them. We like their yield but it could be dampened if BTC should rise... but if it falls it will benefit it, so sounds like a nice hedge.
- CC: Even after its meteoric rise the yield remains competitive to be among the highest offered by any share. Keep in mind though, because shares are super volatile that unless you buy below VWAP you could be buying at a very high valuation at which the yield isn't as attractive. Something to watch for.
- MAGWS: I personally like this guy. When were were crazy about Clud Minning (an alt-coin) he made a mining pool and what not. He listens to investor's feedback, and overall seems like a good guy. Speaking about his business though, I don't have much to say. Seems people have fleed from MAGWS resulting in it having the highest current yield among all shares! We are going to have to do a more indepth analysis to see if this is a golden opportunity or the market is seeing something we are missing. Tune in for that!
So I hope everyone enjoyed the commentary and found this information helpful. We will continue to update it until September is upon us at which time we will start working on the September review and make updates there so we can include as many of our favorite shares as possible.
We are also working on building a portfolio of the shares we like and the loans we like as well in order to track it and see what we can learn from it. Look forward to some updates and performance reviews on that later on.
Thanks!

is there a fund where you can invest in?
No there isn't. There is a savings account and an instants account that pay interest every so often (savings daily, instants every time someone makes a payment to an instant loan) but as far as a diversified fund of shares at POP we still don't have that. I think that's because there are many shares that were scams at the end of the day so investors have to do their due diligence and test their luck.
