"The Pizza That Cost Millions"
Back in 2010, a man named Laszlo Hanyecz was hungry. He wanted pizza—but not just any pizza. He wanted to see if this new digital currency he’d been mining, called Bitcoin, could actually buy something real.
He posted on an online forum:
"I’ll pay 10,000 BTC for two large pizzas."
A fellow user took him up on the offer and ordered two Papa John's pizzas, delivered to Laszlo’s home in Florida. It worked. Bitcoin had bought food for the first time.
At the time, 10,000 BTC was worth about $41.
Years later, those 10,000 BTC would be worth hundreds of millions of dollars. And Laszlo? He doesn’t regret it. In his words:
"It wasn’t about the pizza. It was about making history."
And he did.
