Researchers at the University of California, Davis, found women who skipped breakfast had higher levels of the stress hormone cortisol in their system. When compared to those who ate breakfast, the skippers also had higher blood pressure readings.
The study authors also stated that skipping morning meals regularly combined with long-term stress could increase the risk of cardiometabolic disease in some people.

A study that involves more than 300 adolescents found that a healthy-sized, high-energy breakfast could be beneficial when they evaluated immediate recall in short-term memory.
One review of medical literature also discovered that regular eating of breakfast can increase academic performance of children and adolescents.
5. Skipping breakfast can be harmful to heart health
In a study of over 4,000 people, those who ate less than 5 percent of their daily calories at breakfast were 2.5 times more likely to experience hardening and narrowing of arteries (known as atherosclerosis).
Those who skip breakfast are more likely to have a buildup of plaques in their arteries. However, experts believe the effect is an indirect one.
