Brahman Cattle - a very popular Breed in the Australian Outback.
Here is a video of some Brahman Cows which have just has their calves weaned from them. In outback Queensland, it is a very tough environment, so it pays to have the right breed of Cattle to cope with the conditions. Brahman cattle are tough and hardy and make great mothers to their calves. Brahman are distinguishable by the "hump" on their shoulders. If joined to the right bull, their offspring are very good quality.

Yummy beef.
I want to eat some steak before my mouth won't allow me soon.
How many do you breed?
About 500. If you have a chance, try the Wagyu Beef, very tender and yummy.
Do you believe that a wagyu beef must be massaged? Or was it the feed they give the cows that makes the meat tender and tastier?
It mainly due to the Breed, they have a lot of "marbling" or fat between the meat. This makes it tasty and tender. The fat is supposedly healthy. As far as i know , the Japanese are the only farmers that massage their Wagyu cattle. But then, they sell a steak over in Japan for a phenomenal price. For Farmers here, massaging would be uneconomical for the price they are paid and the size of their herds.
Yes I cannot understand why it is so expensive since they can breed much more cattle can't they?
As usual, it's the middlemen. The farmer gets 8 to 10 dollars per kilo, then it ends up in the shop at 60 or 70 dollars or more.
Expensive considering it is not fresh anymore after three days on the shelf, still a wagyu beef.
Yes, Wagyu is considered a luxury here in Australia. Most people cannot afford it.
So who do you sell your beef to?
They are sold either in a Paddock sale, where the buyer comes to the property, or we send them to an auction.
How much do they go for?
They are sold by their liveweight. At the moment its about AUD $ 3.50 per kilo.
You could just say 3.5 SD.
Sure, whatever tickles your fancy ! :)
