"YOU NEED TO KNOW WHEN TO WALK AWAY!" NORTHWEST ADVENTURES! 😀

“You Need To Know When To Walk Away!”🥵
“And know when to run Lol!”😇
Silvertop have you met your match?☺️
Early every morning, I spend 30 minutes splitting a few more rounds of the six cords of firewood I finished chainsawing a few weeks ago.😅

So far…… every round of firewood that I have been splitting, cracks on the first or second blow of my Fiskers X 27 hybrid, splitting ax!☺️
Just about 30 minutes into today’s firewood Actifit workout, Silvertop picked up a ginormous Douglas Fir round!
My furry child Cot was watching Dad from a shady spot under a Big Leaf Maple tree!😻
With only one eye open, Cot was pretending to be sleeping…..😺
“Cot…. wake up son, watch this my boy!”💪
My ax slammed into this round with a sound that reverberated through the nearby forest!😮
Ohhh……. that didn’t even start a tiny crack!
This was actually the first “Problem” round that I have encountered in this stack of firewood!🙄
I have learned that if you can’t split wood in half, start by splitting around the outside circle of the offensive log!😇
As I started “Pealing” off sections of the sides, I started noticing branches inside the round, and a LOT of them!😳
30 more minutes passed, and progress was extremely slow, as I pulled chunks of wood away from the many hidden internal branches of this round !😅
A few years ago Silverware talked his neighbor into buying a gasoline, power log splitter………..
For many years Liz, and Silvertop would rent a splitter, and “Tag Team” on the weekend. The Mrs ran the hydraulic lever, and I would move rounds under and then out of the splitter as quick as I could!
It was a wild marathon to finish and get the rented splinter back quickly!
It was exhaustive work!🥵
So taking my time a little each day became “The” plan.☺️
Sounds travel very well through the forest……………….
“Cot, Jim will hear Silvertop pounding my metal wedges into this round and figure out that I am struggling!”🤔
“It’s a guy thing Cot Lol!”🤣
After an hour and a half, I was exhausted!
“ How about we come back out here early tomorrow morning Cot, no one will hear Silvertop pounding wedges Lol!”😇
Cot, closed both eyes, and rolled upside down!😻
“Cot by that I take it that you approve of taking a break for the rest of today!”😺
Hiking is so……much easier my friends Lol!
Till tomorrow Silvertop Mike 😊

Wow, @silvertop, this post is firewood for the soul! 😂 I love how you turn a tough task into a fun narrative. That Douglas Fir round sounds like it put up a serious fight – I can practically feel the reverberations through the forest!

The images really bring the story to life, especially Cot's supervising (and strategically napping) presence! Your commentary is hilarious. The line about it being a "guy thing" with Jim potentially hearing your struggles had me chuckling.

Splitting wood is definitely a workout, and your perseverance is admirable! Hiking probably does sound easier at this point. Thanks for sharing the struggle and the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. I bet there are some readers who can relate to wrestling with wood! Have you ever thought of using dynamite? 🤣

Looking forward to tomorrow's update on "The Round". Keep up the fantastic work, and may your ax be ever sharp!
