"WALK ON... SILVERTOP!"🤗 ...............................NORTHWEST ADVENTURES! 😀
“Walk On Silvertop!”☺️
Sometimes the “best laid plans of mice and men” can suddenly turn a completely different direction Lol!😇
“Liz I’m hiking up to “Soaring Eagle”!🥰
Halfway up our road I saw my neighbor Kurt. He had a blank look on his face, as he stared out across his yard…………😮
A few years ago he planted a dozen or so assorted fruit trees, and today he was out in the hot Sun pulling weeds from around these trees.
He was now was taking a much needed break!🥵
“Silvertop, how is your firewood coming?”
“I’m halfway finished hand splitting my six cords, I should be finished by the end of July!”☺️
Kurt is a bit of a survivalist😇…………..
I think his goal is to be completely self-sufficient when he retires!😊
“Want to borrow my wood splitter?”
“No thanks Kirt, splitting with an Ax is part of my daily workout!”💪
“See this tree Silvertop, this is a “Carob tree”. Some people call it a “ Jerusalem tree”, it’s an awesome survivalist food tree!”☺️
He went on to tell me that the “Pods” from this tree can be used to make a naturally sweet flour. Liz tells me some people also use the Carob pods in smoothies or as a chocolate substitute!
I think this year his tree will probably bear fruit! I am sure he is looking forward to all the different uses of Carib pods!
If I can get a pod, I’ll let you know how the beans taste!☺️
I knew after thirty minutes of stopping and talking, that “Soaring Eagle” was out of my reach for today, I started my hike way too late today!🙄
“Don’t work too hard my friend, I’m going to see how far I can hike before Liz has supper ready!”
“Awesome Silvertop………Walk On!”👍😊
I was watching the time, and made it to the cool dark section of trail called “Bear Hollow”, only to stop and head back home…
That’s OK, today was a good hike, and I haven’t seen or spoken to my neighbor in quite some time………
Enjoy the outdoors my friends, and don’t forget to stop and spend time with your friends and neighbors!😊
Till tomorrow Silvertop Mike!☺️
Hey @silvertop, your Actifit reports are always a highlight, but this one is extra special! It's more than just a hike; it's a snapshot of community, connection, and a shared appreciation for the outdoors. I loved the unexpected detour to chat with your neighbor Kurt about his Carob tree. How fascinating! It's these spontaneous moments and the stories behind them that make your posts so engaging.
The photos are fantastic, as always. "Bear Hollow" looks incredibly peaceful. I'm now super curious about those Carob pods! If you manage to snag one, definitely share your taste test! Thanks for reminding us to slow down, appreciate our neighbors, and enjoy the journey, even if it takes us in unexpected directions. Keep on walking, Silvertop!
