Woah Little Minnows - Or Anyone With SBD!

in #bots7 years ago (edited)

Have you checked the market lately?

SBD now priced at $10.

If you send someone $1 for an upvote, is that vote worth $10?

If you have to send $2, is that upvote worth $20?
If you have SBD, don't waste it! If you're desperate for upvotes, join a Discord community and make some friends, OR use a service that accepts Steem! There are a few out there, yanno.

Wanna convert that SBD to Steem using the convert option?

If you can't fight the urge to convert, trade it for bitcoin on Bittrex, or Steem on the internal market. Not only are transactions faster, but you're getting more bang for your buck. Using the system to convert takes 3.5 days, and you get the median price from 3.5 days before the transaction even takes place. Want more Steem? Don't be afraid to buy!

Good advice everyone. As a side note, @moonbot has reacted to this rise in SBD value by reducing their monthly membership subscription from $4 SBD to just $1 SBD. Kudos to the @moonbot team!

Glad you're feeling better, @sgt-dan!

Remember that once your post got payed out you get some SBD back and they are most likely still worth $10.

And you will get a lot of steem at the current prices ;) Depending on the bot, this can be a time where voting bots are really bad (because of price) or really good (because no one uses them) depending on your circumstances.

I can only speak for minnowbooster that we still have happy customers (and many use MB on post that are 6 days old).

The worst thing you can currently do is post a post 100% powered up ;)

I would be very surprised if SBD was still worth $10 in a week. I might be wrong but i will take my chances trading for STEEM and not putting through any voting bots for a few days.

7 day payout. We have no idea what they will be worth.

That is true, there is some gamble involved. That is why I don't recommend boosting posts you just now posted, but rather boost posts that are 6 days old.

We are currently doing the math for minnowbooster to get a pr out, the formulas are quite complicated and we don't went to keep minnows in the dark here.

That's... kinda always true, isn't it? Cryptocoin values love to fluctuate, and with steem being sold on more exchanges (thanks, Korea!), it makes sense that it'll start bouncing around.

True but how many people buying upvotes are aware of that.

I would dare to say not many. There are quite a few people using this platform that have no idea what crypto even is. They just see the dollar signs and think, 'money. this is neat. now what?' The conversation is started here. Thanks for your feedback, @reggaemuffin.

Not enough. Which is why this post is important, and the current situations brings need for discussion and adjustments to the way vote buying services work.

I would say that for that reason SBD shouldn't be accepted as payment for upvotes. When I made my agreement with smooth I made sure it was in STEEM because no matter what the price of STEEM the amount (of steem) I can give with my upvote remains the same. It is much more reliable once you work out the maths, because as long as you're paying the same amount of steem the return (in steem) is the same.

What happens if the situation is reversed? What if SBD drops below $1? Can that happen? What then?

It makes no difference to the amount of steem coming from the upvote. Or SBD based on the value of steem.

@molovelly I am liking the SBD for STEEM show right now......................Internal Market Trade

Or you can simply buy upvotes via steem from @smartsteem :)

Shame on you!

I really appreciate advice like this, it will help newbies like me.
"If you can't fight the urge to convert, trade it for bitcoin on Bittrex, or Steem on the internal market". The quote up there says it all instead of fighting or getting frustrated.
