My Experience Writing A Book

I've been away for quite a long time now, in fact its probably been almost a year since my last post. I've always loved writing, but took a break from this site to pursue writing my own book. I went through most of my 20's striving to get a decent job in a world were the jobs sucked and almost everyone was trying to take advantage of me. As I spoke to more of my friends, high school acquaintances and work colleagues, I started to notice a disturbing pattern, everyone was pissed off and poor. The only people I know that own anything are in debt up to their ears and working at jobs that pay them just barely enough to survive. Yea, this is life in the beautiful California, perfect weather and bums roaming the streets. I decided to write a book about all the challenges that young people face and the stories that are not being told.

I learned several things from this experience. First of all, it is a TON of work and takes an insane amount of dedication and time to write a book. Secondly, almost all literary agents are

1.) Women
2.) From California or New York and
3.) Diehard leftists who only want to hear about feminism and gender issues.

I'm still seeking an agent, but I'm thinking more and more about self publishing as I realize now that most literary agents don't want original ideas or well written logic, they want more mindless propaganda. The older I get, the more motivated I get to try an make changes to a country that is so obviously being manipulated. Anyways, that's my two cents for writing a book. Well now that that is coming to end it sure does feel good to be back. Anyway what are your thoughts on self publishing? Would you ever buy a book written from someone on here?
