RESTORATION
"I WILL GIVE HER HER VINEYARDS FROM THERE, AND THE VALLEY OF ACHOR AS A DOOR OF HOPE; She shall sing there, As in the days of her youth, As in the day when she came up from the land of Egypt."
Hosea 2:15 (NKJV)
Comment: One major attribute or characteristic of God is, no matter how terrible or hideous the sin committed by someone, He always gives another chance to the person.
God promises to visit the Israelites again; reconcile and restore them back to Himself. The Scripture says: "HIS COMPASSIONS FAIL NOT. THEY ARE NEW EVERY MORNING, GREAT IS YOUR [His] FAITHFULNESS (Lamentations 3:22,23).
If you had missed it and done wrong, and you humbled yourself and come back to Him, repenting; God will forgive you and give you another chance or opportunity (2 Chronicles 7:14; 1 John 2:9). God would forgive again and again, severally, when a believer misses it and comes to Him, repenting (1 John 1:9).
However, God will not want the believer to remain in that state. When you are forgiven again and again and divine corrections are unheeded; what God did has for you might be changed—what ought to be given to you might be given to another person.
God would not want you to be a weakling believer, someone who is lacking in strength of will or character. He would not want you to be a pushover or doormat that can be tossed to and fro with a little or no persuasion (1 Corinthians 14:20; Ephesians 4:14).
The grace to live above Sin is given to you at new birth. Thus, whenever you missed it and did wrong or committed a Sin, you have sided with the adversary, the devil. You have disappointed God and failed to rise up to His Grace deposited in you.
Note: the grace to live above Sin and overcome challenges that come your way is already given to you. God is not unjust, He would not allow you to be exposed to whatever challenge you are not able to handle:
"NO TEMPTATION HAS OVERTAKEN YOU THAT IS NOT COMMON TO MAN. GOD IS FAITHFUL, AND HE WILL NOT LET YOU BE TEMPTED BEYOND YOUR ABILITY, BUT WITH THE TEMPTATION HE WILL ALSO PROVIDE THE WAY OF ESCAPE, THAT YOU MAY BE ABLE TO ENDURE IT" (1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV).
So If you kept failing, you have disappointed Him; you have failed to rise to the grace deposited in you.
Thus, after a repeated failure, God would not have any other choice than to sanction or discipline you.
This is why in Israelites case, after God had warned them severally; sending His prophets to them, and when divine corrections or reproves are unheeded, He sold them to the hands of their enemies—He allowed their enemies to conquer them, deal with them, that they might return to Him, God.
If you would not want your case to be like that of the Israelites, you would have to be serious with your faith and sit-up to live right. Stop condoning your flesh, live a holy life (Romans 8:12,13; Galatians 5:24; 1 Peter 1:15,16).
Peace.
