GOD RULES 1
1 KING Belshazzar made a great feast for a thousand of his lords and drank wine in front of the thousand.
2 Belshazzar, when he tasted the wine, COMMANDED THAT THE VESSELS OF GOLD AND OF SILVER THAT NEBUCHADNEZZAR HIS FATHER HAD TAKEN OUT OF THE TEMPLE IN JERUSALEM BE BROUGHT, THAT THE KING AND HIS LORDS, HIS WIVES, AND HIS CONCUBINES MIGHT DRINK FROM THEM.
3 Then they brought in the golden vessels that had been taken out of the temple, the house of God in Jerusalem, AND THE KING AND HIS LORDS, HIS WIVES, AND HIS CONCUBINES DRANK FROM THEM.
4 THEY DRANK WINE AND PRAISED THE gods OF GOLD AND SILVER, BRONZE, IRON, WOOD, AND STONE.
30 THAT VERY NIGHT BELSHAZZAR THE CHALDEAN KING WAS KILLED.
31 And Darius the Mede received the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old."
Daniel 5:1-4,30,31 (ESV)
• When some people become great, they would not know the limit of their power.
- Belshazzar, the successor of Nebuchadnezzar, was drinking in a feast, he ordered for the gold and silver cups which his predecessor, Nebuchadnezzar, had taken from the Temple in Jerusalem to be brought, that they might drink from them (Daniel 5:1-4).
- Whatever has been dedicated for the use of God should not be desecrated. You have no liberty to use whatever belongs to God! God's money, things given and dedicated to God, should be kept holy. God would not want whatever belongs to Him—be abused.
• Handwriting on the wall!
- God wrote on the wall of the king's palace. And Belshazzar the king sought for the meaning of the writing on the wall (Daniel 5:5-7).
- It thus means God has numbered the days of Belshazzar's reign and has brought it to an end (Daniel 5:25,26).
- The King has been weighed on the balances and has failed the test (Daniel 5:27).
- His kingdom has been divided and given to The Medes and Persians, God said (Daniel 5:28).
• No matter how you did make your money, and become great; either through a Godly means, or an ungodly means, or whichever means; God knows about it.
- You should not be intoxicated with whatever you have; position, money, power, fame, or whatever: “THE LORD KILLS AND MAKES ALIVE; HE BRINGS DOWN TO THE GRAVE AND BRINGS UP" (1 Samuel 2:6 (NKJV).
- Every Believer in Christ Jesus is in God's hand (Isaiah 49:16). There is no one who is too big for God to handle and subdue. The Most High God rules in the kingdom of the world and appoints whoever He desires to rule.
- Do not be haughty and take God for granted because of your greatness; position, achievement, and whatever: "TELL THOSE WHO ARE RICH NOT TO BE PROUD AND NOT TO TRUST IN THEIR MONEY, WHICH WILL SOON BE GONE, BUT THEIR PRIDE AND TRUST SHOULD BE IN THE LIVING GOD WHO ALWAYS RICHLY GIVES US ALL WE NEED FOR OUR ENJOYMENT" (1 Timothy 6:17 the Living Bible).
• When God allowed or permitted you to become a respected person; a public office holder, or whatever in the society, know that He has done that for a purpose.
- Belshazzar failed the purpose why he was made king. He was weighed on the balances but failed the test
- God would weigh whoever He intended to lift, or someone who has already been lifted, or permitted by Him to be lifted—one who is allowed to become great.
- Do not think you are at the position or the level you are because of your smartness or cleverness. Belshazzar failed the test, he abused the privilege given to him; to rule or lead the people.
- It does mean if you are given a privilege to rule or lead, you are a steward and you will give account of your stewardship.
- Whoever in a position of authority and honour; a political office holder, or whatever, should know that God has put him or her in that position.
• You will not fail in the mighty name Jesus.
- Whatever is contrary to your health is rebuked in Jesus' name.
- That which God has not planted in your body, troubling your system, is rebuked and uprooted now in Jesus' name.
Peace!
