BIBLICAL PATTERN OF SUCCESS 1
1 BLESSED IS THE MAN WHO WALKS NOT IN THE COUNSEL OF THE UNGODLY, NOR STANDS IN THE PATH OF SINNERS, NOR SITS IN THE SEAT OF THE SCORNFUL;
2 BUT HIS DELIGHT IS IN THE LAW OF THE LORD, AND IN HIS LAW HE MEDITATES DAY AND NIGHT.
3 HE SHALL BE LIKE A TREE PLANTED BY THE RIVERS OF WATER, THAT BRINGS FORTH ITS FRUIT IN ITS SEASON, WHOSE LEAF ALSO SHALL NOT WITHER; AND WHATEVER HE DOES SHALL PROSPER.
4 The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 FOR THE LORD KNOWS THE WAY OF THE RIGHTEOUS, BUT THE WAY OF THE UNGODLY SHALL PERISH."
Psalm 1:1–6 (NKJV)
• Whatever good thing that a Believer would ever need or want, the pattern is found in the Bible.
- The Bible is given to the church as a guide in our Christian journey on the earth. Whatever good you want, the type, or pattern, is found in the Bible.
- Things written in the Bible were written as examples and for admonition of the believers: "NOW ALL THESE THINGS HAPPENED TO THEM AS EXAMPLES, AND THEY WERE WRITTEN FOR OUR ADMONITION, UPON WHOM THE ENDS OF THE AGES HAVE COME" (1 Corinthians 10:11 (NKJV).
- Through the Psalm No 1 used as the text of this teaching, certain principles of success could be learnt. In the passage a believer who will succeed in God's Way, would be a person:
I. Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly (Psalm 1:1). Walking in the counsel of the ungodly means patterning your life after that of the unbelievers, the worldly people—imbibing their ways of doing things.
When you want to do things that the ungodly do, even as a professed believer.
II. Who does not stand in the path of sinners (Psalm 1:1),
III. And does not sit in the seat of the scornful (Psalm 1:1). - Doing or being part of the things mentioned above would hinder or short-circuit the move of God in your life.
- There are things to embrace to get good success, God kind of success. And also there are things to shun or avoid that your success might not be hampered or hindered. Some of the things to shun are the ones mentioned above.
• However, doing or practicing these next few points would draw the hand of God into your life for success.
- The heart or delight, or Joy, of such a believer should be:
I. In the law of the LORD (Psalm 1:2),
II. And in His law he meditates day and night (Psalm 1:2). - This same principle of paying attention to the Word of God and meditating in it, was given to Joshua As the condition for a good success: "THIS BOOK OF THE LAW SHALL NOT DEPART FROM YOUR MOUTH, BUT YOU SHALL MEDITATE IN IT DAY AND NIGHT, THAT YOU MAY OBSERVE TO DO ACCORDING TO ALL THAT IS WRITTEN IN IT. FOR THEN YOU WILL MAKE YOUR WAY PROSPEROUS, AND THEN YOU WILL HAVE GOOD SUCCESS" (Joshua 1:8 NKJV).
"STUDY THIS BOOK OF INSTRUCTION CONTINUALLY. MEDITATE ON IT DAY AND NIGHT SO YOU WILL BE SURE TO OBEY EVERYTHING WRITTEN IN IT. ONLY THEN WILL YOU PROSPER AND SUCCEED IN ALL YOU DO."
Joshua 1:8 (NLT)
- When a principle is being repeated and emphasized in the Scripture, on the pages of the Bible, It shows the importance or significance of the principle.
- Whatever success you crave as a Believer, the instructions on how to get it are found in the Bible—the Word of God.
- When you have delight in the Word of God, to read and study It, you are on the path of biblical success.
- Not only to read and study for the Head knowledge, but meditate, ponder, or ruminate, on it, and the practice of it (Joshua 1:8).
- Your delight should be in the knowing of the Word of God, and not only that, It should be in the doing of the Word As well (James 1:22,25).
- When your delight is in the knowing and the doing of the Word of God, you are on a path to success.
• The Psalmist says, the outcome of your delight in the knowing and the doing of the Word of God would be:
a. He, you, shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water. Such would not lack nourishment—nutritiveness or nutritiousness (Psalm 1:3).
b. That brings forth its fruit in its season. You would be fruitful and productive. The life of such would be a blessing to others (Genesis 12:2; Psalm 1:3). In other words, what comes out of him or her would bless others.
c. Whose leaf also shall not wither. The person would not know dryness. In other words, the person would remain evergreen—flourish in every season of the year.
d. And whatever he or she does shall prosper. Such would experience success, even where others are struggling, or failing, because the source of him or her is God—the principles found in the Word of God (Genesis 26:1-3;12-14).
• You will not fail in Jesus' name.
- Should there be any ailment in your body, the hold of the sickness is completely broken and destroyed in Jesus' mighty name.
- Affliction will not rise the second time in the precious name of Jesus Christ.
Peace!
