According to traditional sources, a young prince Siddhartha Gautam saw that this world was suffering from so many miseries and they wanted to end it, only then they reached the banks of the Phalgu river, which flows through the city of India. At the same time he sat in the state of meditation under the peepal tree, and later the people named the same tree as the Bodhi tree. According to Buddha Lipikaro, the Buddha was continuously imposing three din and three nights there. At that place, Emperor Ashoka built Mahabodhi temple in 260 BC.

After this Buddha had spent seven weeks in different places and kept meditating. In these seven weeks, the Buddha went to different places, which have been described below -

1.The first week he spent under the Bodhi tree.

2.During the second week, Buddha's obstacles and restlessness remained standing beside the Bodhi tree. This place was named as Animeshto Stupa, which is located in the northeast of Mahabodhi Temple Complex. There is also a Buddha statue, whose eyes are made in such a way that they look only at the Bodhi tree.

3.After this it is said that Buddha walked towards Animeshto's stupa and Bodhi tree.

4.According to the Mahatma, the lotus flower was also planted in this path, and this path was also given the name of the Ratnachandra. Fourth week he spent in Ratnagar Chaitya, which is located in the north-east direction.

5.During the fifth week, Buddha gave answers to all the questions asked by Ajpala Nigod tree.

6.He spent his sixth week before Kamal Pond.

7.Seventh week he spent under the tree of the state tree.

The Bodhi tree of Bodhgaya is directly related to the historical Buddha, Siddhartha, Gautam, who used to enlighten during his meditation process. The temple built there also has been built in the east of the Bodhi tree.
According to Buddha theology, if there was no origin of Bodhi tree at that place, there would be a royal garden. But this was not possible.

According to Jatakas, the navel of the earth stays in this place and no other place in the world can bear the burden of Buddha. According to Buddha Lipikaro, when this whole world will be destroyed, then Bodhomanda will be the last place to disappear from the earth. Traditions also have to say that lotus still blooms even today. According to Mahatma, the origin of the Bodhi tree was the same day that Lord Gautama Buddha was born.

Mahabodhi Temple is a holy Buddhist site because it is the place where Gautam Buddha had received knowledge. The holy Bodhi tree is located in the western part. Its architecture has a glimpse of the ancient architectural style. King Ashoka is believed to be the founder of Mahabodhi temple. Certainly it is one of the oldest Buddhist temples that is completely made of bricks and is still standing in real form.
