Just writing of some frustration

At this moment I am furious, furious at a company which I bought a domotica system at. All the fun started in July 2018, the day we bought the system. The system itself looked great, all the add-ons looked great so I couldn't wait to install it. A little note aside, it was a very expensive system, with the knowledge I have now, I would never ever have bought this a system, not in a million years.

With the system you can:

  • Manage the temperature in house from the device (thermostat) or trough a app (online)
  • Turn on smart lights, configure scenes etc. (just a bit like Google home etc.) based on the zigbee protocol.
  • Manage your solar panels, measure the revenue, compare them to the consumption to maintain a healthy balans between the power consumption and the revenue of the panel.

When we bought the system I asked the seller what the future plans were for the device and company. He told me that the technology they used was beyond limits so they definitely would evolve the system with much more and greater functionality, thinking of it...he never made is SMART.....

In our old house I installed the system and the first thing I noticed was that it wasn't a open zigbee hub kind of thing, it was a Zigbee master. That meant that I couldn't connect my lights (for instance) to a Google home system. Ok, that won't have to be a problem in the beginning. I could live with that. When I called them some weeks later I asked if there where planning to integrate with Google in the future, they told me at that time that they hadn't got any request for that from other people so they weren't planning to do so.... But when they would, they would let me know... Looking back I should have noticed the sign in that message....

Well we had the system running and it was doing ok but the lack of interoperatibility was itching me. After a while, when we were moving, the installation company placed a heat-pump for our heating. The device was for a gas boiler. So when the heat-pump was operational I decided to give the company a call to ask if the thermostat within the device was compatible with a heat-pump.
(note that the national government is encouraging the use of heat-pumps and will demand that everybody uses them in a couple of years).

The answer was NO it isn't. It was a very short answer which I didn't expect. So I replied with the question if they can tell me when they will make it compatible for use with a heat-pump. The answer I got back really struck me.... They told me that they never will because the stopped the continuing development of the product because "the market didn't pick it up'..... No wonder with such a service.... This was in may of this year, so I didn't had the product for a year yet and it was already end of life...

I had a lot of contact with the company, mail, telephone calls... But they got more and more rude every moment... I was so fed up with it that I stopped contacting them and took my loss. I tried to sell it but of course couldn't because I wont lie to people telling them it is a awesome product and stuff...

So last week my brother in law was at our house and we talked a bit about domotica and of course my story came up.... I know he has a boiler so I told him if he wanted it, he could have it for free.. With no guarantee of working a longer time. He was thrilled, so I was happy at least could make somebody happy with this thing..... Then the next problem raised, the system can be used local (in the house) and online to check or switch on things remotely. For the last you need a login and a password, so I sended the company a mail that I wanted to transfer the device to him and asked to switch the email and password to his (I don't like it if anyone uses my email). It took some days I finally got an answer:

"We would like to cooperate in transfering the acocunt and device to another person, therefore we ask you to write your request again in a mail to us accompanied with the name, adress, telephone number and email of the new owner. When we switch the account we charge you with 80 euro's administration costs"..

When I read this I thought I would explode... Just switching an account in the system. I am a IT man of profession so they don't have to fool me with those kind of things... I am so fed up with this company, they have zero service, zero knowledge about clients and they did false pretenses....

So with that out of my head it is time for a cup of coffee.....

Have a great evening,

Peter

Wow, that is pretty horrible. Do you have anything over there like the Better Business Bureau? Or like an Attorney General (AG) you can contact? Over here we have things like that and they are groups or elected officials that can step in when consumers are being taken advantage of or not getting the service that they should. They kind of work as an intermediary for you. With the AG if it happens to enough people and it is bad enough, they will sometimes take legal action against the company.

We have a consumer protection board. I have called them already but they say I won't have a good chance of getting something back because the 'promised' development but weren't smart in what the development would be then... I am really !@#$% of

That sucks. I am sorry to hear that!
