Question of the day: why are so many people lazy?
I am thinking here about people willing to spend thousands of dollars on crazy, scam-looking, companies, programs, courses, that promise you incredible results if you pay the price.
Pay $3,000 and we will make you skinny in 2 months, pay $10,000 and we will do surgery to make you skinny, pay $2,000 and we will make you speak English in 3 months (this is becoming a thing in Japan), etc.
I just don't understand why these people don't realize these things can easily be achieved by themselves. At the end of the day, if you want to lose weight, or learn something, paying these crazy amounts of money will change nothing, you're just throwing money at the problem. It might work, it might not (let's face it, you won't learn a foreign language in 3 months (and 3h a week) just because you're paying a lot for it), but in the end, YOU are the one getting things done.
What you need is determination. Do you want to achieve something? Then go and get it done. Period. You will be the one exercising, following a strict diet, doing homework, etc, so why on earth would you pay a company to let you do these things?!
I do realize that this money can sometimes be the motivation they need to actually do something, so I guess it's not completely wasted, but then again, for me the fear of having to pay that money if I don't do it myself is a much better motivation!
For most things in life, I do believe that there is always a way to buy it, but money is just the easy way out, and there is pride to be taken in accomplishing something by yourself, like a full grownup, without relying on anybody else. When possible, of course. But if you want to lose weight, you really are the only one doing it, so don't give that credit to someone else!
