In war-torn Afghanistan, honey is considered a traditional cure but a learner, bee growth is considered an opportunity to work and master a business in a country where few women do so.

Three years ago, Frozan, now 19, received a small loan, bought two bees and learned about baptism by a non-governmental organization focusing on the fight against poverty among the population. The bees collected nectar from flowers near her home in the north of the country and Frozan collected 16kg of honey in the first season, enabling her to pay her lending and still had some profits for herself and her family.
Now it has 12 hives and last year brought 110 kilograms of honey. This brought profit of $ 1450 this is quite large for the country where the annual GDP is about $ 600 per capita. "At first there were many problems because the village I live in is very traditional and women are not allowed to work out. But when I started dealing with this, I realized it was easy and people understood this and allowed me, "Frozan said. The Afghan girl is now in the last school year and dreams of continuing her education. Thanks to honey, she and her three brothers and sisters can do it. Honey production is growing in Afghanistan referring to some official data and only in 2015 were produced 2 tons of honey. Most honey is never exported due to poor infrastructure.
