Visit to Prague
So, let me set the Scene….. *dun dun dun*
…..Recently, I went on a short weekend trip to Prague. On my first day there, I went for lunch at Soho+ Restaurant & Garden.
Soho+ is located right on the Vltava river and has an outside terrace where you can sit in the Garden and wine and dine in summer. Unfortunately I went smack middle of February, so it was fresh to say the least, so inside it was… Which was fine for me. Soho+’s interior is very modern, with white drapes separating your table from the next, so you really feel like you have your private area of the restaurant. The decor is very light and elegant, you can just imagine the place to be pumping with the it-crowd in summer.
They have two menus for each season, the sushi menu and the traditional menu and you’re allowed to order from both. I decided to have a little something from each menu so I went for the maguro-avokado from the sushi menu, which was tuna, mayonnaise, avocado and sesame seeds. Before I devoured it I did manage to snap a few pictures of the masterpiece.
For the main dish, it was onto the traditional menu and was the beef steak with marrow crust, mini beef tartare, potato fondant. The beef was so tender and succulent and went so well with the mini beef tartare and potato fondant (which was a fancy way of saying mashed potatoes made to look pretty).
The lunch was so filling that I was not able to go for a dessert, but I am sure it would have been amazing. They had options like, non traditional tiramisu (really tickled my curiosity!), frozen chocolate parfait with ginger puree (asian infusion) and caramel pineapple creme brûlée.
After lunch, we headed to the old town’s square where dozens or artists and musicians were doing something. There were artists ranging from native indian musicians with all their native costumes that included an eagle head on their head, to a grown mimes sitting in a giant baby crib dressed in a diaper. The square was very creative to say the least. By now, the sun had started to come out and lighten up the surrounding houses and buildings, including Prague’s famous Church of Our Lady before Týn. The Church has been the main church of this part of the city since the 14th century.
Just off the old town’s square, there is the Pařížská Street, Prague’s most exclusive and expensive street. We strolled down Pařížská, snooped in the windows of Louis Vuitton & Prada, ooh’ed and aah’ed at the shiny pumps in the display of Jimmy Choo.
When we passed Tiffany’s & Co, I couldn’t help myself but snap a picture of their display. Just look how pretty and cute the display is! Of course there’s the diamonds too, but you know.. the display is where it’s at.
Sigh. A girl can dream, right? See you with the next post!
Love,
Rosalina
