RE: 20 Minute Blog a Day - admitting you have a problem is the first step

in #blog7 years ago

I couldn't even begin to imagine how many books I have read, I read them once & don't even keep them, I must move on & learn something new. Your post did make me think what my collection might be worth now or how big my library might be.
I see life as a disposable product & everything within it, One day & at any time it all comes to an end & I was made aware of it at an early age through witnessing loss. I made a promise to myself that day & have remained steadfast & stuck to it.
The only thing I can possibly take from this life to the next is experience & knowledge. Material things in this life will not be making that transition with me so the real value in anything material from this world is the experience & knowledge that I can learn from it.
The materialistic things in life are all just tools to help us achieve enlightenment. I believe we all have different lessons to learn in this life & if your conscience is telling you to go over the same material I would have to say go with your gut feeling & read it again, be that the 12 volumes of the Talmud or Janet & John something is attracting you towards the goal of redoing that task. If you have an itch you have to scratch it or it will drive you nuts.

you are very wise @professorhobo :) more and more I'm trying to accept this mind frame and let go a bit too - mid 2017 my family and I greatly downsized our life due to a multitude of obstacles and that really was a kick in the ass to me to be like, hey, all these "items" and "objects" do not define me and they are certainly not what brings happiness, I don't need them to be happy.

I do feel like my gut knows I can get more out of the book - so I reread it, and I do get something new and enlightening each time lol thank you for the insightful comments!

You made me wonder - how many books have I read? what does my "library" look like ? I usually rent them at the library, although I do own a few copies of my old favorites.. mostly my sister has inherited my old collection as my current location doesn't allow for much storage lol

thanks again for taking the time to comment and read my blog! <3

No need to thank me for reading, I am hopelessly addicted to reading, you should see the state of the old laptop I use for this, If it died today I would just be in the library every day using theirs <3
