Have you heard of Urinary Incontinence?
When you are not exposed to certain things, you may never know about them. This is why it is important to read widely. So many things happen to our bodies yet, we don’t know jack about them.
You may not have heard the term ‘urinary incontinence’ I myself never knew anything about it until today while I was reading a medical journal at my cousins place and I'm gonna throw light on it although it happens to a lot of women. In America, a survey was conducted and it yielded that out of 1000 women 43% said they had experienced the symptoms of this condition.
Urinary incontinence simply put, refers to the leakage of urine. It may also be called overactive bladder (OAB) or urge incontinence. Usually, it happens when the urinary muscles spasm, leading to a leak of urine when one laughs, coughs or sneezes. For some, it could also be when they exercise.
In case you are wondering, it is not VVF. It is most common in aging women, between the ages of 50 and 65. Even though it seems to be associated with aging, it is actually treatable. Therefore, no woman should ever resign herself to it. The condition is capable of negatively affecting one’s quality of life.
It is indeed sad that most women manage it on their own rather than see a doctor. Some resort to wearing pads, cutting down fluid intake, special underwear or outfits that will serve as camouflage should an accident occur.
Hopefully, now that I have thrown some light on this matter, you will seek out more information on your own and if you are suffering from this, do not hesitate to see a doctor.
