Long lost bowling ball

in #blog7 years ago (edited)

Three years ago I lost a bowling ball.
Not many people manage to lose a bowling ball in their life. Well i did.
Three years ago, at the age of 18, we were playing a lot of bowling. Why? For three main reasons:

  1. It is the only sport that drinking beer is an essential part of participation.
  2. It's a sport where most of the time you sit.
  3. Because we have watched "The Big Levovsky" too many times.

I was good. How good? my friend Michael bought me a bowling ball as a gift, so good that it had custom made holes for my fingers. And a custom case and all. And I went out with the ball once, to play. And a week or two later, I realized I had no idea where it was. I remembered i left it at the trunk of a car of a friend named Trevor, But the ball was not there and I had no further directions for questioning. The ball was gone. And with it the hobby turned into a place where hobbies go to die, the place called "reality." Wednesday, July 7th, 4:30PM I'm on the phone with Trevor. He is at his parents' house, looking for a few minutes of peace from his little girls. Were talking, he walks in the yard. Suddenly he tells me a sentence I never believed I would hear - "You wouldn't believe this". What is it i said, "I think I found your bowling ball" Trevor says. I was so excited, to confirm that the ball was mine we got Michael on a Skype call between the three of us. (After all, you know, maybe it's the body of another ball),
When he confirmed that "I think the ball was purple," we told him that the ball was thrown in the garden of Trevor's parents house. Lying there like a dog for twenty years. He wept, From laughter. We decided to play Saturday night.
