The Retail Life #3
So I decided to rename this series from crazy work stories. A little intro about this blog..
I've been working in retail for 10+ years and encountered some crazy, awful, spiteful, and stupid people. You really do get to see the worst in people.
So I will be going into 2 short stories that happened
•World star moment
There's a lady that came into the store. She loads up a cart with high ticket items. One of my associates takes notice and recognizes her from prior incidents of shop lifting. So the lady the proceeds to go out our secondary entrance, and shoots past the registers. The associate singles to the other associate. And as soon as she reaches the door the 2nd associate grabs the cart away from her. That's when she decided to turn this into a war star hip hop scene. She swings at associate #2. He tries to get away from her, then the shoplifter attempts to take her cart back, and that's when associate #1 grabs the cart away from her, then she swings at her. Throwing windmill punches. A crowd starts to gather and people start yelling at the shop lifter in the middle of her swinging at who ever had possession of the cart. She then decided to walked away to her car in the next parking lot over.
She got away. She almost had $500 worth of merchandise. Cops were called, but she's still out there. When you only have the vehicle description it seems like it's impossible to catch the shoplifters.
•Taking a Temper Tantrum Too Far
The very next day, a man came in to return a video game with no receipt. Returning a video game is pretty strict when ever purchased, and even harder when you don't have proof of purchase. He initially got turned down for the return. He got irate and a manager came over. Due to an adult not getting their way, the manager decided to allow the return on store credit. So all good right??
Wrong wrong wrong. He noticed that he was getting back 49.96 rather the 59.96 he claimed he paid. Different stores can have different prices even if the same chain store. Also price changes happens every week. The manager tried to explain his situation. Especially since he did not have a receipt from his purchase. This was unacceptable in his eyes. He started to flip out. He took his game and walked towards the exit. That's when he stopped looked back and pull a clip out. Then he took his gun out and loaded the clip, while yelling out profanities about the store.
Thank god he decided to walk out the store and go on about on what ever else he has planned in his "adventurous" day. Cops were called but just like the shoplifter, he has not been caught yet.
So these are just two days where I'm sure other incidents happened, but you got the best of. Hope you enjoyed the read!
