The power of music The madness of a song that have engulfed Ghana and beyond
hi steamanians,
Have you for once underestimated the power that music holds? Well, I think it’s high time you rethink that through. Nowadays however, the focus of most musicians has been on the entertainment side of things literally neglecting the other purpose of music thus telling stories, advocating for better ways of doing things and expressing emotions.
Music, as many say, is food for the soul. As something that can influence the soul, I have always known it to be something very power. But I have never witnessed the true power of it until a recent release by a Ghanaian artist called PATAPAA. The song is titled ONE CORNER
The young artist originates from the central region of Ghana, from a town called swedru. He has been working on his music for quite some time now and got his breakthrough recently with his ONE CORNER song.
One corner is a fast temple entertainment song that literally makes no particular sense but has gotten a lot of people out of their minds.
Here are a few videos of people dancing to the song
credit to the owners of these videos.
The song is causing people to endanger their life by trying to do the dance that came with the song. All one needs to do is find a corner to exhibit some madness. It is currently the talking point in Ghana right now as the song has gone viral.
At the end of the day, the question I ask is should this be allowed to go on? Or someone needs to do something right? He is just an artist like any other artist and so why asks question if his work should be allowed or not. The reason for this question is the impact of his work on society. Watching from the videos, people are literally going insane.
I think I would go out of my mind if I listened to that for too long, lol.
Music is a very powerful energy which can either put you in a good or bad mood. It can control people's behaviour (I know that from being a dj).
Certain songs can start fights, others can help create peace.
Music can make you laugh, it can make you cry happy or sad tears.
Music is life!
thanks very much @donkeyworld
I am a sound engineer too and I know very well the power of music
its just that sometimes people take it a little too far either entertaining themselves or making music.
I quite like the idea of people being entertained by music. If music makes people happy then, that's a good thing.
There is a lot of music that promotes sex & violence & it seems to be very popular in the UK & around the globe as far as I can tell although this kind of thing is really not for me. I try not to play much of it when I am working.
