RE: Weekend, Coding, Dogs, and.... Babies?

in #blog6 years ago

Dude... I've probably been learning to code for about the same amount of time... and I currently have literally nothing to show for it... you're doing so amazingly well with Exhaust - I'm super impressed and a little bit jealous. I chose React because it's a little bit magical, but oh man is it so complex. I'm just constantly hitting roadblocks which make me question where I should be using React at all.... the phrase 'sunk cost' plagues me constantly.

I'm sure I'll get there eventually... but oh man... and all the tutorials seem to date really, really quickly... so I'm sure Utopian could definitely use some python / Django tutorials... especially since I've found it's super hard for beginners... lots of tutorial creators don't realise how much assumed-knowledge their tutorial requires.

Obviously I completely agree with the use of technical developer skills in the future... especially as AI slowly creeps into our workspace. Part of the reason that I think things like Exhaust are so valuable... AI can take our engineering and IT jobs... but they'll never take our freedom runs!

Also... tiny humans are so weird. I've had cousins that were so scared of me... and then later loved being thrown around by me... then later still would give me all their food at family events (picky teenagers y'know) and now tease me because they're all tall and stuff.

Ah, so the point of my story is that ego is only lasts for a couple of years in the middle...

Within the last 24 hrs, I've committed to myself to learn some magic / sleight of hand tricks to impress this ignorant little baby the next time we're around (and is smart enough to be confused by awesome magic by cool people).

I'm excited to see what you put together after you have that "aha" moment and it starts to click. Took me a while to wrap my head around how django and different python libraries and js/css all work together.
