Akashic Records: Have We Lost the Magic?
I've been fascinated with the Ancient Astronaut Theory (AAT) ever since I read Erich von Daniken's first book, Chariots of the Gods?, almost 40 years ago. Even back then as a child I had gazed in awe at Stonehenge, the Egyptian pyramids, the Central American pyramids and wondered how on earth could supposedly primitive civilizations construct such mind-blowing, majestic structures.
Erich's book was like a glass of water to a thirsty child. It showed me it was alright to not blindly accept what others told me, especially when it was obvious they had no knowledge or facts and were simply amusing a child (anyone remember asking parents/teachers/adults, "Why is the sky blue?" and getting told "Because it is." or a similar non-answer?). People, it seems, are conditioned to simply take the easy way out and accept, without questioning, the quick answer that allows them to proceed with their lives without the need to ponder too deeply.
I believe this is because life has become much more complicated as the human race has advanced throughout history. Life today is a whirlwind of non-stop activities, worries, concerns, duties and more. It is very rare that we get a moment to ourselves, let alone are able to truly relax, simplify and enjoy that moment, without something intruding. Most people, when asked, will agree that their thoughts are always comprised of many disparate ideas. We call this multi-tasking in today's environment, and applaud those who are good at keeping multiple projects on the go at once.
Work, bills, family, school, friends, what's on TV, what's for lunch/dinner, where am I going, what am I doing, and more. These are all just some of the thoughts/ideas most of us juggle constantly, and these are just the easy ones. Add in problems (personal or otherwise), deadlines, medical issues, fear generated by the latest news, etc. and you can see it becomes very easy to become overwhelmed by external influences/stimuli.
But what if this wasn't always the case? Surely the people of ancient cultures were not bombarded with the same intensity as we are today. That's not to say the issues were not the same hundreds or thousands of years ago. People still had to work, answer to supervisors, worry about friends and family, pay taxes, etc. but it was likely at a much more relaxed level than we face today.
The Akashic records are said to be a compendium of all knowledge: past, present and future. All thoughts, deeds, even intentions are said to be recorded in the Hall of Records. This is not a physical place one can visit; instead it is described as a spiritual one, a different plane or dimension that we, as humans, can not directly interact with.
If, for a moment, we accept that this knowledge or force does indeed exist within the universe and that it does indeed contain all past, present and future knowledge, then we are to able infer that all technologies and the understanding of their use and applications must also be present in the records.
The question then becomes... How do we access that knowledge
In modern times, there have been various visionaries, geniuses and scholars, who have advanced human kind with their inventions or breakthroughs. Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein, Srinivasa Ramanujan, Nicola Tesla, all contributed greatly to society during their times and all had a common thread among them. They all believed that their knowledge, insight and works were influenced by external influences. Jobs had his meditative retreats where he would transcend himself and come back with new and innovative ideas, Einstein had his thought experiments which lead to his many breakthroughs, Ramanujan believed his mathematical breakthroughs and concepts (most of which he did not understand himself and many of which, nearly 100 years later, are still being explored today) came to him through dreams given to him by his household deity, Tesla spoke of being able to put himself in a trance where he could assemble, envision and even test his designs in his mind to determine flaws before he proto-typed his designs.
How is it that these few individuals, all of whom speak of their knowledge as coming from elsewhere, or outside themselves, are able to achieve such levels of brilliance that the rest of the population can only marvel at? Could there truly be something to their descriptions of meditative, mind clearing, focused thought practices that allowed them access to a higher plane or dimension of knowledge? Perhaps the Akashic Records?
Throughout recorded history there have been scholars, scientists, artists and others who have stated their works come not from themselves, but from an outside source. Whether it be from divine inspiration, visitations from otherworldy beings, or simply from a visit to another plane or dimension where they were able to receive knowledge, the thread remains common over thousands of years. However, the further that humanity evolves, the fewer of these brilliant minds we seem to experience or be gifted with at any given time. Could it be that due to our hectic lifestyles we are losing the ability to reach the point of calmness, inner stability or reflection needed to access these other forces in the universe?
Or to put it in simpler terms.... Have we lost the magic?
Back to our ancient ancestors, those who built the monoliths. How did they move those immense multi-ton stones over great distances, when our modern machinery would have trouble doing so? How did they make cuts so precise that even with diamond-edged tools we would have trouble duplicating their feats on some of the harder stones (andesite for instance) even today. How could they build such massive structures without the use of mortar or cement, yet have the stones fit together so perfectly that a single piece of paper or human hair is unable to fit between the stones? Where did they get knowledge of advanced mathematics (the concept of pi, Pythagorean theorem, the golden ratio and such) eons before they were officially discovered?
What if the answer was magic?
Now, by magic I don't mean our current definition of the word or concept. I am referring to what our ancient ancestors would have considered magic. As Arthur C. Clarke once said, "Magic's just science that we don't understand yet." We have to remember, that to our ancient ancestors, there were two worlds. The first was the physical realm where we lived our daily lives. We could see, touch, feel, interact with this world. It was the realm of the explained, the realm that we knew existed because we could see what caused the effect. All was visible and explainable. The second world was the world of the unseen, the spirit realm. To our ancestors, if the cause could not be seen or touched then it must have originated in the spirit realm, the other-realm. Most of these occurrences were attributed to gods, deities, spirits, or simply magic.
For instance, if the water jug by a well suddenly cracked and broke and if a stone was found inside it, or someone watched the stone hit the jug, the stone was determined to be the cause and thus this was a natural or physical incident. Most likely most some young boy was in trouble for having poor aim, but if no explanation could be found as to why the jug broke, it was most likely attributed to the whims of some spiritual or otherworldly force. The same incident could have existed in either realm depending on how it was interpreted.
The further back into history we go the less complicated and intense peoples daily lives become. Magic was simply accepted as a natural force. People were much more connected to the land itself, to the sun, moon and stars as these were the forces that governed their lives. They were more open and receptive to interactions with other realms, planes or dimensions. It was taken for granted that these things existed and as such the collective consciousness as a whole was more willing to believe or empower those who could reach or control these otherworldly powers.
What if this simplification of life, the group belief or consciousness, allowed these ancient cultures, either as a collective or through various intermediaries (high priest, druid, magician, shaman, seer, etc.) to access the Akashic records due to a focused will or the need for a single piece of knowledge? The building of a monument to honour those who controlled their lives? To simply build something to last for eternity, to say, we were here, look at what we accomplished as a group or culture.
If the Akashic records truly do contain all knowledge of all time, then surely it would have been a simple feat to use sound to levitate the stones across the distances required, to use simple ingredients to cut or shape the stone without the need for advance tooling, to gain the mathematical or architectural knowledge to align to cardinal points or to leylines, the astronomical knowledge to align to the stars or ensure events such as lunar phases and equinoxes were tracked accurately. After all, when you believe and accept that these are magical or gifts from the gods, the impossible becomes possible, because why wouldn't it be?
Perhaps simpler times really were better. They might not have had TV's, iPhones, modern medicine, space programs and all our other technology, but that did not stop them from creating marvels we cannot duplicate today even with all our supposed advantages. Astronomy, mathematics, and other advances we make today might simply be retracing the steps we have lost by shutting ourselves off from the knowledge of the universe due to our busy, hectic lifestyles. Knowledge that was once freely available has become obscured under a haze of what we refer to as science and technology, doomed to be mined and rediscovered one nugget at a time, rather than simply accessed as needed when our minds were clearer and more focused.
Have we lost the magic? Or can we return to simpler times and perhaps once again find a way to access the knowledge our ancestors seem to have had?
