Let's post interesting things and have cool discussions

Hey guys,
A little bit about my experience here on Steemit. Lately, I've been having a hard time trying to write anything on steem. Not because I don't want to write - I do a blog in another media but in my first language, I just could not post anything. So here are some thoughts about my first couple of weeks here.

Steemit is a community where you supposed to get rewards for a good quality content. I love the idea, I have something to share - particularly my travel experience, passion for marine science and good stories, I would love to learn new things from people who know something that I don't know. But how come there is so much of fb like memes and follow to follow stuff? So much that sometimes it's hard to find some good things out there. And when you only get 'nice post' like comments, it really is demotivating. 'Followed&upvoted', 'follow me and I will follow you back' - I don't really get it by now because clearly, you can't become a millionaire by having thousands of followers who do not care about what you are posting. At the beginning, I was following people back and now I see tons of weird stuff in my feed so that I don't even want to open it. No offense to anyone but I've started to unfollow people who just want me to follow them and that's it.

So I am for communication and good quality content here, let's talk to each other and share our experiences not just follow and upvote and write all the same comments for all posts with pictures. Because otherwise, what is it in this community that makes it a good place to stay and write anything important?
