Should every artist be poor? No!
I personally dislike the stereotype that every artist should be poor. It’s settled deep in our subconsciousness. There were the times when it could be true to some extent. In history we see examples of extremely wealthy painters, photographers, actors, musicians, writers and other artists. They literally rolled in money, not caring about anything, or it seems so to those who are not really familiar with their story of success. Anyway, they did get a golden ticket. But the majority can’t make a living off it. What’s the cause?
Lack of marketing skills
Now the marketing seems to be a popular buzz word, the things weren`t always the way as they are now. For centuries countless painters and singers couldn’t make the both ends meet, not because they were untalented. I can name you many brilliant artists and authors who lived and died in total poverty. Bach, El Greco, Van Gogh, Kafka, Manet, Gauguin, just a few. Doesn’t it seem very strange, that a man associated with art, I’m talking about Van Gogh, wasn’t popular and sold, according to common lore, only one painting during his lifetime?
The truth is that while some artists are just way ahead of their time, other artists who are talented in art, aren’t talented in such area as promoting themselves. They don’t have the necessary skills of salesmen to sell their work, and have no idea where to start. They could make the living off it, but someone has to show them how it’s done.
How it should be done
Ok, now some good news: nowadays you can earn money simply by making cool stuff. Of course, you must upload it to some resources, but it’s much easier than before.
All kinds of creative minds are welcomed on different resources. SELFLLERY could become one of the main platforms where you can make some money. All you need is a camera and cool ideas. We do the rest. You just have to be yourself, and there’s no way you’ll stay unpaid. Because we’ve come up with an unique system: you earn money when you’re active, so you don’t have to overcome yourself and try to sell your pictures to some unknown people. Also we connect the buyer and the seller, our advertisers can buy your pictures by themselves, and that’s our job to automatically propose them a content they’re looking for. Just make sure you’ve tagged your photos in a right way. Forget about marketing, we have a goal to build a system where all creative people can show their creative skills, not the marketing ones.
The future
I believe that gradually we’ll become a place where all artists will have their audience, and everyone will have a chance to get some money, just because they are awesome. Also, to show to our audience some unknown gems, we have an Editors` Choice on our platform, where we will put our favorite photos that we feel should be more appreciated.
All money you get, you get in form of YOU tokens. I want to remind that our main TGE goes on these days, everyone still has a chance to buy themselves some tokens, for advertising purposes or for own use. After that TGE, the buying process will be more complicated, but creators will be able to earn tokens on platform, and that’s great.
Remember: all you need is a camera and an account on SELFLLERY. Be creative. Earn money. We do the rest. That’s how SELFLLERY changes everything for creators.
Sound like a killer concept ! however , This article doesn't go anywhere else besides suggesting a place to list your art.
I think maybe adding links or photos by better sell the idea.
I still followed and upvoted because I'm also an artist who doesn't want struggle to make ends meet. lol
