Digital Currency and Blockchain part 1
Now that the public is aware of digital currency and block chain especially the Ugandan community, we as steemit community have a great opportunity to promote steemit.
According to the people i meet daily and tell them about steemit, they simply ask me what it is all about..... Most times the answer is just simple "steemit is a social media platform where everyone gets paid for creating and curating content, it leverages a robust digital points system (steem) for digital rewards"
this takes me to last weeks events on block chain in Uganda...
The minister of ICT of Uganda has announced that the government intends to leverage emerging technologies such as block chain to improve the efficiency in public service delivery. for example here the public/ civil servants can be paid in steem dollars once technology is embraced.

Well from here, I had a friend who had attend some seminar about block chain in Kampala and from there he reported that the ICT ministry permanent secretory Vicente Bagire Waiswa said that the use of technology will place Uganda at par with its counter parts around the world in the global market place which is now being driven largely by technology. Government is going to use block chain technology where it is appropriate to provide seamless services to the general public, he said adding it was time the country adopted technology for economic inclusion.
He added countries all across the globe are exploring the potential of block chain technology in several sectors for example real estate, supply chain management, energy trading and beyond, whoever we have to put it in mind that some governments like the Ethiopia government announced plans to test block chain potential in the supply chain traceability of coffee.
Recently, the President of Uganda welcomed block chain development and pledged uganda's commitment to becoming a global block chain destination.

Bagire said that block chain use will help to reduce the time taken by people to access government services such as tax payment. just like how a common saying goes "time is money," here people will be able to use less compared to the current situation and divert the other time to doing crucial works that can make them earn a living still.

The chairman of block chain association Kwame Rugunda said that the use of block chain technology will enhance the value and efficiency in service delivery such as payment systems and record management among other things.
from this note, as the steemit community in Uganda we a having more chances and opportunities to reveal to the community on what steemit is and how it works. Most important one has to invest in his or her brains to create and curate content.

In my part 2, we will be looking at how block chain technology can be explored in several and Various sectors of Uganda's economy for example agriculture sector, health sector, real estate, supply chain management, public service among others.
