RE: Cotton Coin – Enabling Value Across the Cotton Supply Chain
That's correct. We are deploying blockchain solution for a photocopier company and the logistics visibility that has come through is hitherto, beyond the scope of any IT solution. So our customer is really happy. In saying so @machnbirdsparo, you have hit the nail right on its head.
Thanks for stopping by and taking time to read!
Sure @machnbirdsparo! When I am talking about logistic visibility, I am talking about all solutions like Transportation Management System from Oracle (and others) to Warehouse Management System that many other players have. Of course, with the advent of GPS visibility of vehicular movement can be captured but what you do with that information is what is not thought through. This is where lack to a certain extent comes in. Now, we can talk about tools forever as there are many to capture information from each leg of movement and storage of supply chain.
Similarly, in the photocopier company example I gave, they have everything that you can think of as far as tools and technology are concerned and yet they could not draw a map of their entire supply chain for the past so many years. Why? Because of lack of information from the vendor's end or any part of the chain. The vendor's system itself was not able to capture the desired information. For example, they could capture the progress of work on a certain component through different machines, however, it could not capture the information at the point of work being done. Why is it so important? Well, the information on the part during the machining process also has sub-processes and if that information is captured, then the photocopier company can ask the vendor to re-do the part (if found erroneous) and not wait for it to be supplied and then resend and reiterate. Save time and money for both organizations.
May I also add that the solution for the photocopier company is a production -cum-logistics solution.
