RE: Hedging Fiat with Dash Digital Cash
what happens when you want to change dash for a fiat currancy? there has to be a bank account somewhere ? what is the off ramp?

There is currently no direct off-ramp to go directly from Dash to Fiat. Dash is just starting to gain traction should this should start changing, but for the mean time you need to convert to Bitcoin. Then go to a bank account via Coinbase.com or something similar. There are also Bitcoin ATMs and https://localbitcoins.com/ where you'll find local exchangers who will convert to cash.
Shapeshift into BTC then LocalBitcoin into fiat.
The question is then, why not just invest into Bitcoin?
Bitcoin is not a bad option too for pure hedging. However, I don't anticipate it will be very useful for small and fast retail purchases anytime in the next few years
