Burger King uses the blockchain to create his currency, the WhopperCoin
In Russia, the American fast food chain will launch the WhopperCoin, a cybermonnaie that will be used to reward customers. The new loyalty points somehow, but also much more.
For every burger or item you buy at Burger King (BK), you earn WhopperCoins. These are like loyalty points that are credited to an online wallet. Thus, you are rewarded with every purchase you make in the American fast food chain. In the future, you will be able to spend and make purchases with this e-money.
This scenario is not a fantasy but is becoming a reality. Indeed, the Russian division of Burger King has launched such an operation. To do this, Burger King relies on the blockchain platform Waves, and has already created 1 billion (others may be edited more if necessary) WhopperCoins, the "currency" exchange. Concretely, 1 ruble = 1 WhopperCoin; knowing that a euro is about equal to 70.7 rubles.
What's interesting is how to use them. If customers can effectively save WhopperCoins for other products in the chain, it's also possible ... to do what you want. In this case, nothing prevents you from exchanging for goods or even other cybermonnaies, or for example to send to the wallet of a friend. An iOS and Android mobile application will soon be available.
"The Whopper is no longer just a popular hamburger in 90 countries, but also an investment tool. According to forecasts, the value of cybermires will grow exponentially, "says Ivan Shestov, head of communication of BK in Russia.
