Global Blockchain Hackathon - New York, U.S.
Blockchain enthusiasts of all ages, genders and skill levels are invited to bring their enthusiasm, skills and creativity to the Global Blockchain Hackathon New York, July 14-15.
More than 300 blockchain developers, startups, educators and investors are expected to attend the two-day hackathon competition and pitch fest. The hackathon will award prizes, including a top prize of 1 Bitcoin (BTC value approximately $6,000-$8,000) at the final stage competition in Chicago in August.
Solo developers/coders or teams of up to five members will spend the weekend learning new skills, competing for prizes, meeting investors, sponsors and the local tech community, while also having fun, enjoying food, social activities and more.
The free event will cover industry trends, real word applications, open source software and solution-based case studies. Hackathon competitors will demonstrate their cutting-edge technologies and startups will pitch their solutions to top venture capital investors.
This event is part of the Global Blockchain Hackathon series in North America. The first event, held in June in Los Angeles, attracted more than 150 attendees with 20 teams participating from companies including, TINKR, WorldCloud, Detrust and Hashpets and top educational institutions Stanford University, USC and UCLA. More than 10 investors have brought over 2,000,000 ETH to invest in projects for the series to date.
The series continues on Aug.18-19 in Silicon Valley, California and concludes in Chicago on Aug. 24-26.
The winning teams from each series will join the final competition in Chicago. Special prizes will be awarded at each event, and the final winning team will receive 1 Bitcoin (BTC) in Chicago.
The Blockchain Hackathon is hosted by International Data Engineering and Science Association (IDEAS), a global nonprofit dedicated to fostering the data engineering and data science ecosystems and broadening the adoption of their underlying technologies to accelerate the innovations data can bring to society.
"We invite anyone interested in blockchain technology to attend, including developers looking to improve their skills or expand their horizons, startups looking for funding or anyone who just wants to network and see what all of the excitement is around blockchain," says Jason Geng, Chair of the Association Board.
Students, women, and people of all skill levels and ages are encouraged to attend.
