The Bhutanese government started mining several years ago when the price of bitcoin was about $5,000, a Bhutanese official said.

Despite its small population, the mountainous country generates the same amount of electricity per capita as the United States, thanks to its massive hydroelectric capacity.

And now a 100 MW bitcoin mining data center in Bhutan is in talks with Bitdeer.
