The cryptocurrency market experienced a pump and dump after false news about a BlackRock Bitcoin ETF approval on Oct. 16.

The global crypto market capitalization reached a two-week high of $1.12 trillion, but dropped to $1.08 trillion shortly after BlackRock denied the approval.

Crypto analyst Crypto Banter called Cointelegraph's fake news "market manipulation" and claimed that only a few whales knew about the scheme.
