Bitcoin.com - US Charges Chinese Spies in Scheme to Bribe Government Employee With Bitcoin to Steal 'Secret' Documents
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has accused two Chinese intelligence officials of bribing U.S. government officials to steal "sensitive" documents.
Approximately $61,000 was paid in bitcoin to the officials, who were actually double agents, to steal the information.
DOJ explained that since 2019, a U.S. government law enforcement (GE-1) employee had been instructed by two Chinese intelligence officers to steal classified information.
