Using Tokens to Incentivize User Engagement

As more video game publishers and other industries begin to adopt blockchain technology, cryptocurrency and branded tokens are also starting to become more popular. By creating a proprietary token which can be used to purchase goods within a particular virtual environment, users can connect with one another and the brand on a more concrete level.

One advantage of using digital tokens is that unlike loyalty points which are used by many businesses, they can be used as currency or redeemable rewards from another company. This makes tokens far more versatile and makes them and the brands which issue and accept them more attractive to consumers. In other words, while loyalty points can be difficult to understand and redeem, tokens function much as any other form of currency and so are equivalent to having extra money — which makes it more likely that users will spend them instead of letting them accumulate in the long-term.

Achieving broader token loyalty can be done by growing the network within which it can be used. By partnering with one another and making it possible for the crypto community to earn tokens from one company and spend them elsewhere, then both companies benefit and support one another.

Another way to make cryptocurrency rewards more appealing is to allow users the choice of how they access their currency. As in, they can deposit in a wallet, cash it in for gift cards, convert it and deposit it in their bank account or send it to another user on the network.

The other consideration is the blockchain technology being used to facilitate cryptocurrency tokens. Given that features offering the most flexibility require speed and a larger side of the application, it may be necessary to adopt specialized blockchains.

The last element of a successful tokenized customer program is making sure the users are active, otherwise they won’t be earning or spending the currency. Creating various tasks or activities that they can perform, such as completing tasks, games, and so on to earn tokens will keep the community lively and promotes its overall longevity.
