One of my more favorite ways of adding value to something I have already put some time on is expanding it out. I some times will take a comment I have left. It's good on its own. More information, better format, some changes with images and now it’s a great blog as well!

Another I tend to use is creating a series out of it. Much like your “repurpose” old content to be new again. I find most people have issues of coming up with brand new ideas all the time. A lot of the more successful long term thinking people here are focused on content that they can continue day in and week out. They don’t have to lay the groundwork and gain the knowledge to write it anymore. They put in the time and now they enjoy the benefits of adding to that topic and sharing with others.
