Unless you are coding something, don't overthink all the soap opera stuff going on. I remember the best thing about Bitcoin Cash forking from Bitcoin...woohoo, you now own both coins! Forks can be awesome. Whatever forks from Steemit may or may not survive and I would personally gladly check out whatever (example, example, example) but I guarantee there are deals in the back end of Steemit Inc that ensure that the company probably won't be going anywhere anytime soon at least.
