I think the tech will prove itself in the long run if it doesn't die beforehand.
It going to $5 per bitshare is not unfathomable. That's a 1000% increase from where it is now.
Not a 1000%. A 1000x increase and thats 100.000%. Unlikely! But impossible? We'll see.
The good thing is that you never lose more than you put in. For me it's worth the risk.
