Mainstream FUD articles !! 🤔

in #bitcoin7 years ago

If we head over to the BBC technology page (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology), we see not 1 or 2 but 3 articles all relating to Bitcoin and every singly one paints it in a negative light. From it's high energy consumption to the age old "it's used only by criminals" line.

It seems the BBC don't like the idea of crypto and the freedoms it brings.

How much do you think articles like this actually impact peoples opinions on crypto? Sadly given the broad spectrum these articles hit, such as climate change, criminal activity and hacks on the government I think the impact is quite significant.

What do you think?

The 3 articles are below.

Article 1 : Criminals hide 'billions' in crypto-cash - Europol

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-43025787

👇Ban all crypto and those pesky criminals will be stuck hey.... 👇🤔

Article 2 : Bitcoin energy use in Iceland set to overtake homes, says local firm

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-43030677

Article 3 : Hackers hijack government websites to mine crypto-cash

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-43025788

As usual thanks for listening

I just add this comment to each of my articles for people who haven't seen any of my posts before :)

Oh dear, I think they do have a negative impact on those who are yet to enter the crypto markets, which is basically the majority of the world. I have also noticed a similar patter in the Guardian and I really don't understand what is their beef with crypto. I hope people can see through all the FUD. Fingers crossed!

I don't recall seeing many positives articles from mainstream media sadly. Thanks for the comment.

Articles like these brings a feeling among masses that by entering into crypto market they are doing something illegal. This keeps them away from investing in crypto, in return the investors money stays in bank and the banks profit off of them. Generally i believe all of these are paid articles.

Yes I agree. A lot of people who are unsure and read these articles get the feeling they are doing something illegal by buying crypto. Which is worrying.

BBC, has been going slowly down hill for a while

Agreed. They are meant to be impartial but we all know that's not true.
