During today's conference call, the leading developers of Ethereum decided not to include the ProgPoW proposal code in the current protocol update, which allows reducing the impact of ASIC miners on the ecosystem. It is reported by CoinDesk.

According to the participants, this proposal needs a thorough audit before implementation. The latter should confirm that this solution will indeed lead to a decrease in mining efficiency on ASIC devices. ProgPoW is designed to make GPU miners more competitive, and the network, therefore, more decentralized.
