Quantity over quality or Vice Versa

Hello BitCoin community, I have something i would like to share and need your help and opinion on, I will start my first investment soon and would like to know do I want to invest in buying bulk of low end coins or do I want to focus on a coin that is already $1 dollar plus or more already? and please tell me why you choose the route you personally took.
