Bitcoins stolen from kriptovalyutnogo exchanger Shapeshift, began to move. In March 2016 a hacker, who was assisted by a staff member of the exchanger, with Shapeshift stole more than $ 230,000 in cryptocurrency. Most of this amount was not returned and the offender has not yet been determined.Eric Vurhes, Shapeshift CEO, spoke about the incident public. He described the situation during the break-in and all the events that occurred after the incident.June 30 stolen funds were first transferred to two separate addresses, one transfer in the amount of 314 of BTC, and the other at 1 BTC. Each of these addresses only shows two transactions: the receipt of funds and their subsequent forwarding to the new address. The process continues, as each new transaction is split into two parts and sent to two new locations to confuse the traces of the thief. After the first transaction was sent BTC 1 10, 12 and 14 BTC, which are also split into smaller parts in hundredths of Bitcoins. An amount of 278 BTC remains intact. It is not known how many will continue to "entanglement" and what it will. What is clear is that the thief wants to clean up as much as possible and bring the stolen goods. All transactions with Bitcoin publicly available for viewing through blokcheyn. However, because the addresses are not linked to any specific person, and new ones can be created quite easily, anonymity kriptovalyutnyh financial transactions is becoming quite a serious problem. Numerous services, providing services to the mix of coins, can send the coins to a different address, so that their final destination and origin remains unclear, thereby maintaining the sender's privacy. It should also be noted that cryptocurrency Dash offers a mix of coins originally built to service its client.Shapeshift restored
After the hacking attacks Shapeshift promised to restore the facilities and resume work. According to the company, customer accounts were stolen during a burglary and Shapeshift infrastructure since almost restored.

The Theif is a moron. Literally the first thing that popped into my head reading this (and I am not suggesting anyone steal coins, I am just saying that this is what you would expect someone to do) is that he should have, first thing, sent .5 BTC to 1 BTC at a time to 50-100 random addresses that people give out on the internet hoping that someone will give them coins. The people that got the coin would just think it was their lucky day, and would start spending them, then that would start a wild goose chase for anyone trying to figure out who did it. Again, not suggesting he do this or anyone ever do this, just what he would do if he had any brains.
