And they say cryptocurrency adoption is slowing...

in #bitcoin7 years ago

The narrative over the past few months has been that cryptocurrency adoption has been weakening.

To be honest, they are mostly right.

Several retail companies, gaming companies, and finance companies decided to stop accepting bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies mostly related to the high transaction fees and volatility of late 2017.

However, it's not all bad.

This is on the window of a French Restuarant in NYC called La Sirene.

As you can see, they are cryptocurrency friendly.

Do you see what I see?

However, what is most interesting is what they do not accept as a form of payment...

Check those stickers at the bottom of the window.

That's right, La Sirene accepts bitcoin and several other major cryptocurrencies but it does not accept Visa, MasterCard, or Discover.

Interesting.

Hopefully we see more of this in the future!

Keep it up La Sirene.

If I am ever in NYC, I know where I will be dining!

I wonder how much business they do in crypto and how much in cash.

crypto is just starting

The reality is that most of the card processors charge a very high fee to merchants that already have squeezed margins. They need to deal with them as most people now prefer plastic to paper. Cryptos are were the cards were 20-30 years ago where every merchant accepted cash but not all had yet adopted cards. The same story will repeat itself as consumers look for efficient ways to settle their transactions.

Interesting thoughts. I could see that. Nice comment.

You make a very good point! Sometimes people forget (or simply don't know) the history of things and have a difficult time seeing the future or new things that are similar to the older things. Its helpful to be aware of the past.

Huh, I wonder why they still accept American Express, but not Visa, MasterCard or Discover.

Ha, I wondered that myself.

Maybe it's because of the charges that those companies impose on their users that's why many use it.

Everywhere I travel I look for these types of signs of adoption. Sadly I have not seen places with Bitcoin or other crypto sticks at stores or restaurants I have visited. I still keep a close eye out since it will be awesome once more and more places accept them. The more acceptance by stores the more stores around them will be forced to adopt. Hopefully the change reaction begins happening at a quicker pace.

One day I hope to only frequent business who accept crypto.

Thanks for sharing.

Great hopefully it picks up

Outstanding. ..fud can not overcome reality. ..we are about to blow....wide open
