George Washington & Satoshi Nakamoto - Men of RevolutionsteemCreated with Sketch.

Two men known more for their actions, than their words.

Two men known to let principles guide them.

Two men that will be known for millennia.

Of course, we only know for certain George Washington was a man. The same can't be said for Satoshi Nakamoto. One has their face one of the most common paper currencies on the planet. While the other is faceless, yet still created the most common cryptocurrency on the planet.

The two figures have many things in common, yet also quite the opposite... They saw a system that didn't treat others fairly, so they did something about it. Washington went to war and lead his country to victory. Nakamoto created a movement that has the power to buck the current corrupt system. Both revolutionaries, but in very different ways...

What Can They Teach Us?

First, they can teach us to educate ourselves with a firm foundation of meaningful principles. We can be guided by principles, especially when hard times come. Washington rooted in resilience and integrity. Nakamoto rooted in equality and justice. Both willing to sacrifice for the greater good. Their actions were guided by these firm principles.

Second, sometimes it's not what you do, it's what you don't do. Washington stepped down from an office, because he knew others would follow his precedence. How hard would it have been for a normal person to not run for another term? Nakamoto has remained hidden, because without a centralized figure, people would have to subject themselves to a decentralized movement. How hard would it have been to not be the "King of Crypto" if the opportunity was given to you?

Lastly, silence can be more powerful than words. Washington was the President of the Constitutional Convention. He didn't speak much, hardly at all. Yet even though he didn't speak much, he was in control over who the speakers would be. He remained silent, allowing others to fight for what they believed in. Nakamoto is famous for being silent. Since Nakamoto isn't around, we have to put together what he exactly meant. This can allow interpretations to be made based on what we believe.

Sometimes you need that father figure that leads you and tells you exactly what to do. Other times you need that fatherly distance to allow you to figure stuff out on your own. Washington and Nakamoto seemed to know when to balance the two. Maybe there is more to learn from both of these revolutionaries...

What do you think?

Sort:

no doubt two of the more impactful revolutionaries...I think both understood that the convictions they lived from and the changed they sought to bring about was bigger then themselves. That level of transformation has to be bigger then a man, and both made room for that...history will speak to the level of 'success' that their convictions catalyzed -

Its a shame that both the US and bitcoin have strayed so far from tje original vision. Perhaps without the visionaries to guide the ships, its hard to know which port they will land.

Followed and Upvoted, Keep up the good work and looking forward to more from you.

Thanks! Followed back and best of luck to you! Has the news about the Sierra Leone election been verified false?
