BTC-e's Big Claim: Bitcoin Withdrawals to Begin Today
BTC-e, the long-running and polemical bitcoin exchange targeted by US agencies in the previous month, has arrogate that users can withdraw their funds beginning Saturday.
As formerly reported, BTC-e – after its original domain had been seized by the authorities following the apprehension of a Russian national and the charging of a $110 million fine for money laundering violations – said it had secured "55 [percent] of the funds" originally held by the exchange, with the rest being confiscated. Two days ago, BTC-e converted access through a new domain, permitting users to check their balances and converse through the chat box.
In the modify form, the exchange said that users would be able to withdraw the percentage of their funds still available – provided that they accept a deal which would see BTC-e issue a debt token aimed at making up for the impounded funds.
Users that elect to keep their funds on the site, the statement goes on to explain, will have their funds moved to an as-yet- undisclosed domain that will serve as the home for the newly- establish BTC-e.
"On the day the site is launched, the balance will be recalculated at the market rate and will be credited to accounts with a higher ratio than 55/45....Tokens will be credited to your account balance, which you can use for bidding and releasing codes," the exchange said.
I wonder if the "Russian national" was charged with money laundering by "Russian officials"
Otherwise that would be like the Saudi's charging a Michigan boy in Michigan for bicycle theft in Michigan and extraditing him to Saudi Arabia for a hand amputation.
lol...actually according to sources, Alexander Vinnik was detained by US authorities and are reportedly seeking to extradite him based on a warrant drafted earlier this year in California. But one thing i don't get is, why there are no public records available regarding the warrant.
Same goes for Kim Dotcom (mega.nz) who is being extradited to the US for his encrypted 'dropbox' like app.
This is all bullshit. US law can only be broken in the US. Otherwise, you really can't touch them. I do and have been admiring Russia for their restraint as provocation after provocation has been tossed at them though.
hmm....well what can we say, looking down on people is tag in their blood
