Resources for Crypto Investors

Hey Fellow Steemians!
Here’s a list of websites I’ve found to be useful:

NEWS & ANALYSIS

CRYPTO CURRENCY MARKET CAPITALIZATIONS

This is a list of crypto currencies sorted (default) by market cap. The list also provides other useful information like price, circulating supply, 24h volume, % change, and a price graph.

TRADING VIEW
https://www.tradingview.com/

This is a great place to study price movement. You search for the crypto currency pair using the ticker symbol. Once the candlestick charts pull up, you’re able to zoom in and out of different time frames (by hour, day, week, month…even to the minute). The website also provides tools for drawing to mark areas of resistance, price trends, etc. I also like how there's a chat section on the right hand side so you can read or chat with other crytpo traders/investors.

To find the ticker symbol for a specific crypto, you can do a quick search online. For example, if you do a search for “Factom ticker symbol,” using Google, one of the first links that pull up should show FCT/USD. Plug that into the search box. To save you some time, here's a list of some common ticker symbols:

  • BTCUSD – Bitcoin
  • LTCUSD – Litecoin
  • ETHUSD – Ethereum
  • XRPUSDT – Ripple

REDDIT

I like to browse the subreddit for each of my investments. I’ve found that this is the quickest way for me to find news regarding a particular currency. Most of the time, if anything major has happened that day, someone would have already shared the link to the article by then. It saves me the work of hunting down the information.

Here's a list of some crypto pages:

BUYING & SELLING

COINBASE
https://www.coinbase.com/

This is a simple website for people who want to buy bitcoin, ethereum, and/or litecoin.

I’ve been seeing a few complaints about the system being slow or going down when prices drop (probably due to influx of new investors recently and higher transaction volume), but overall, it’s been working pretty well for me. I like the simple layout. You can either use the instant buy feature (easiest and quickest for beginners) or you can transfer money from your bank account to Coinbase. Then transfer the money from Coinbase to GDAX (www.gdax.com) to make the actual purchases. Signing up for Coinbase gives you access to the GDAX exchange where you’re able to set limit orders as well. I like this feature because you can determine what price you would like to buy/sell, set up an order for it, and then forget about it until the order is filled.

KRAKEN
https://www.kraken.com/

I use kraken as well. I prefer the look and feel of Coinbase, but this exchange offers more currency pairs.

NETWORKING

MEETUP
https://www.meetup.com/

You can search your area to find out whether there are any bitcoin or blockchain groups. It’s a great way to meet others who share the same interest. Most of the people in my “real” life either haven’t heard of or are not very interested in this stuff. I’ve gone to one meet up in my area and it was great hearing people from such varied backgrounds discussing their thoughts about crypto currencies. There were people who were just starting out (like myself), people who have known about bitcoin from the earlier years, bankers, attorneys, programmers, entrepreneurs, retirees, and even a couple of grandmothers there. It was a lot of fun.

I hope you've found some of the information here to be helpful. What websites do you like to use? Share in the comments below and let me know if you have any questions for me. I’ll try my best to research and update in a future post. :)

Thanks for reading!
