The most profitable extraction of a digital currency is the extraction of free electricity. Crooks from different countries are trying to deploy their farms near industrial plants where illegal energy can be used illegally or an industrial gas generator run free of charge.
In an abandoned factory in Orenburg, a large digital farm was discovered, absorbing huge amounts of electricity. The local energy operator detected the consumption of over 8 million kWh of electricity from the abandoned plant and immediately informed the police.

More than 6,000 ASICs, carefully stacked in the cabinets of the factory, were found in the factory. The power supply cables take electrical power from the substation of the plant. In addition, hundreds of boxes of brand new, newly purchased equipment for crypto mining were found in the adjoining rooms.

According to the investigation, the digital farm is owned by the two directors of the former company working in the factory.

The crime of such a kind in Russia is punishable by up to 5 years imprisonment and a fine in the amount of income earned in the last 6 months. The most painful will be fine. In this case, the confiscation of the property is not foreseen and after the payment of the fine, the more than 6000 ASIC devices found will be returned. This is not a small thing, because these devices today cost over $ 1 million.
