Bcash: observations

in #bitcoin7 years ago

As I write this, we are in the second day of bcash. I redeemed my coin yesterday through my Trezor after I saw the first confirmed block and am leaving it there. However, after watching this for awhile, I come to some conclusions. These should be obvious, but it is worth mentioning. (Not investment advice, just thinking about this now.)

  1. If bcash means anything, it will happen in time. Just hold it.

  2. Bitcoin is not going to disappear. Segwit is activated and that is a good thing. Lightning network(s) are in Bitcoin's immediate future now.

  3. There is so much locked up coin right now behind exchange private keys. Let's be clear: this could turn out to be an interesting opportunity. People who are unfamiliar with at least some of the mechanics of this will see this new coin, with a dollar value next to it and get really excited. They might sell, they might hold, they might buy more. Who knows where this market is going in the next few months. Just think of how much bcash coin is sitting idle in accounts managed by just Coinbase.

  4. Exchanges that are not opening up this market can have potential lawsuits on their hand if they don't act quick enough. This means that the locked up coin will be released.

  5. The next few months are going to see a wild ride in price with this. Avoid the irrational exurberance.

  6. Bcash and Segwit'd Bitcoin is just the next chapter in this saga. Instead of playing sides, let's just see who 'wins out' in the end. The market has been split and this is going to reflect it now. I hope Bitcoin will 'win out', but I don't get to decide that, the market does.

  7. With this all aside, I will not be putting dollars into Bcash. I don't invest in brand-new cryptocurrency. There are too few miners, there are too many fundamental negatives about it and it just makes me worried. But I don't mind the free coin. Bitcoin is stable (or stabilizing, now that SegWit was just introduced.)

Any other thoughts?

bitcoin was the first cryptocurreny introduced to me.... i gave my full trust to it.... but im open on other things... i just need to study them well... as for btccash.... im still looking and searching on what it can offer...

I will wait like I waited for Bitcoin. I looked at it in 2013 but felt like not risking cash on it. Same here. It's great to have some of this coin, but it needs to be vetted. It has no history except what we know so far, that there was a schism and they created this. The market gets to decide now what it wants.
