Baal - Biblical History
"Baal" in the Bible has a number of meanings, did you know that it affectionately translates as "Husband" or "Master" or "Lord" in Biblical Hebrew?
Isa 54:5 For thy Maker is thy husband(baal), the LORD of hosts is His name; and the Holy One of Israel is thy Redeemer, the God of the whole earth shall He be called.
The descendants of Israel / Benjamin also used Baal as a common name:
1Ch 8:30 and his first-born son Abdon, and Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Nadab;
1Ch 8:33 And Ner begot Kish; and Kish begot Saul; and Saul begot Jonathan, and Malchi-shua, and Abinadab, and Eshbaal.
1Ch 8:34 And the son of Jonathan was Merib-baal; and Merib-baal begot Micah.
A number of places around Israel were known as Baal:
2Ki_4:42 And there came a man from Baal-shalishah,
Son_8:11 Solomon had a vineyard at Baal-hamon;
1Ch_5:23 And the children of the half-tribe of Manasseh dwelt in the land, from Bashan unto Baal-hermon
There are numerous scriptures warning against Baal worship, and we need to be mindful of the full Hebrew meaning of Baal and the many different contexts that it can be used in.

In ancient times, Enlil was considered the great weather god, but just as today, he did not want to be worshiped, only obeyed... Worship was reserved for his Father.
But backward people tried to worship him as they did their idols, and some made human sacrifice against his will to these Baal idols, which is why he was so sternly against Baal worship.
In fact, it would be nearly impossible to separate Baal worship from idol worship, since the gods (Anunnaki) were considered Baals, and the graven images (idols) of them were worshipped after they left.

I would have never dreamed that this would all tie into the Messiah and his many past titles. Good knowledge. Wisely shared. Thank you!
this is a very good teaching.
