Beer & Board Games
What goes better together than beer and... (anything), but how about "board games"? We had a blast preparing for Gen Con (gaming convention) this coming August by playing Axis and Allies (Anniversary Edition pictured below), and drinking beer throughout.
Here is a picture of our confirmed kills for the first day. I tried a new IPA from Strand Brewco (Torrance) called Snafu (it was a little too funky, but otherwise nice and strong). We sampled a Cactus Sour From Coachella Valley Brewco (Thousand Palms) which was very very very sour....a little too sour for our taste. also fairly strong, 9%. I like this new passion fruit kicker from Green Flash (San Diego), its a wheat ale with a little fruit twist. The Wolf Pup Session Ale from Golden Road is probably the best offering Golder Road (LA) has to offer (I dont like most of their beers but they do have about 3 good ones). And of course you cant go wrong with almost anything from Beachwood (Long Beach), and this bourbon barrel dark ale was no different.
Has any one played Civilization? on computer, of course, everyone has. but the board game is fun too! It does take hours to play (thats how you know its good! lol), but it mimics the gameplay of the computer game very nicely.
I got the Wisdom and Warfare expansion for it too, which includes the Mongols.
Oh my! Didn't even know they had a board game of Civilization!
That's so cool.
I love playing board games that takes a while to play, like the ticket to ride series, they're really nice.
yes I do like Ticket to Ride as well. The picture you posted is from the Ticket to Ride: Rails and Sails edition which i think is the best one (trains AND boats) :)
I never heard of the game or the beers, but both of them looks great!!
