Beer Bottling Day
Beer Bottling Day
This Saturday was beer bottling day. I posted on my Home Brew and some of the fermenting issues experienced with this brew some time ago.
It was actually 3 weeks ago that I brewed this beer and finally it was time to bottle!!
In total I got a decent 42 bottles of beer from this brew.
Here is my method followed and my calculation of cost per bottle. (I did not add electricity cost, which is difficult to calculate. As you may recall I kept the beer warm in an electric blanket to help with fermentation.)
- Heat 67 Celsius 90 min, 30 Liter water
- Boil 1 Hour Add: 30g Saaz at 0 min
- Add: 30g Strisselpalt at 50 min
- Add: 30g Saaz at 50 min
- Cool down to below 26 Celsius
- Ferment weeks 3 weeks.
- Bottle age 3 weeks.
- Hydrometer reading 1: 1.054
- Hydrometer reading 2: 1.024
- Diff: 0.03
- Alcohol 4,00%
- Bottled bottles: 42
- Ingredients Price: R292.50
- Price per bottle: R 6.96
With $1.00 = R14.65 it worked out quite cheep!!
Now I must wait another 3 weeks for the beer to bottle age, before I can test the final product!!
I hope you liked the post as much as I liked writing it.
I hope you have a wonderful day!!
